Dr. Sarita Wilson is an ordained elder in the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church and serves as an associate minister at St. Andrew A.M.E. Church in Memphis, TN.
Dr. Wilson is a board certified chaplain, pediatric chaplain and a certified grief counselor. She serves as Director of Spiritual Care with Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN. Her work in chaplaincy has afforded her the opportunity to serve as a consultative resource to the greater Memphis community on grief, cultural competencies and other spiritual care related issues.
She is a lifelong dancer and for over 25 years, she has been the director/founder of the liturgical dance ministry at St. Andrew AME Church. The dance ministry, Ministry in Motion is comprised of over 80 children, youth, women and men who minister in dance throughout the Memphis community. Dr. Wilson is the author of Dance The Word, A Handbook for Liturgical Dance Ministries. She travels the country teaching and preaching to churches looking to begin and grow their dance ministries. Additionally she is the Chair of the TN Liturgical Dance Network.
She received her Ed.D. from Argosy University; her M.Div. from Payne Theological Seminary in Wilberforce, OH, and her BA in Broadcast Productions from Howard University. She is the mother of two daughters and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
